Why we exist.

We make the software Ethiopian businesses run on. Here's what we believe, and how it shapes everything we make.

Our name

Where three roads meet.

Trivium is Latin for the place where three roads meet. Ours are the products we make, the software we build for others, and staying with the people who use both.

  • Products

Software we build, run and answer for ourselves: Martreza at the counter, Documed in the clinic.

    Our products
  • Custom software

Systems, websites and apps designed around the way another organisation works, and owned by them.

    Our services
  • Staying with you

The support, training and steady improvements that keep both going long after launch day.

    How we work

Our story

Who we are.

We make the software Ethiopian businesses run on. It should feel like it was made by someone who has stood behind their counter, because that is how we make it.

Trivium Systems is a software company in Addis Ababa. We make Martreza, which runs the counter and the stockroom for pharmacies and shops, and Documed, for clinics. We also build software for organisations that need something made just for them.

Vision and mission

Vision: Where we are going
We'll know we've done our job when the people who use our software get where they were trying to go.
Mission: What we do about it
Your software should know your trade and use your words. It should be simple enough to learn on a busy morning, and grow with you instead of making you start over.

What we believe

Business software has it backwards.

It's built for big companies, then squeezed down for everyone else. We build it the other way round. Here's what we believe.

Software shouldn't fight you.

So a pharmacy with one counter gets the paperwork of a hospital chain, and an owner spends the evening fighting a screen instead of running the shop. We think that's backwards.

We cut every screen, field and button that's only there to look clever. If it takes a training course to sell a box of paracetamol, the software is wrong, not you.

Built for your trade, not for every trade.

A pharmacy keeps every box by batch and expiry. A café needs speed at the busiest hour. A wholesaler sells on credit and delivers by truck.

So we build for each trade as if it were the only one we make, in the words people in that trade already use.

It grows when you grow.

Start with one counter. Add staff, a stockroom, and your supplier on the same network.

Your records and your habits come with you, and the software meets you where you've arrived. You never have to start over.

The right number at the moment you decide.

Good decisions come from good information, so we put the number where the decision happens.

What's about to expire when you reorder. Who owes you when they walk back in. What you really made when you close the till.

Better together, and nobody sees your numbers.

Your pharmacy and the wholesaler that supplies it, the clinic down the road, shops across the city: one network. What we learn together will help each of you.

You'll only ever see a figure when at least five shops are in it, and never which shops.

How we work

How a project goes.

  1. 30 to 60 minutes

    Step 1: A first conversation

Tell us what you're trying to fix and what good looks like. No commitment.

  2. 1 to 2 weeks

    Step 2: Understanding the work

We sit with the people who'll use it, follow how the work really flows, and write it down together.

  3. 3 to 5 days

    Step 3: A clear proposal

Scope, timeline, milestones and price in plain words, then a simple contract.

  4. Depends on the project

    Step 4: Design and build

Short cycles, with working software to look at every few weeks.

  5. 1 to 2 weeks

    Step 5: Testing and handover

Careful testing, training for your team, and documents you can keep.

  6. Ongoing

    Step 6: Staying on

Fixes, improvements and new features as you grow. The same people answer the phone.

Tell us about your business.

What you sell, how you keep track today, what gets in the way. We'll tell you honestly whether Martreza fits, or what we'd build instead.
